Traceline is a fee-based service offered by the General Register Office to those seeking the whereabouts of persons being sought by enquirers. If successful enquirers are asked to submit a letter which is passed on to the individual concerned. However the onus is upon the latter as regards reestablishing contact, thus no information regarding individuals or their whereabouts is ever disclosed directly to enquirers.
