COUNTY COUNCIL BRIEFING RE: MAXINE CARR

Maxine Carr arrived in Soham with her partner Ian Huntley in November 2001. During the second half of the Spring term in 2002 she offered to help St Andrew's School in a voluntary capacity undertaking the duties of a teaching assistant. At Easter a teaching assistant post unexpectedly became available at the school for one term only and Maxine was offered a temporary contract for the term. The school undertook a Criminal Records Bureau check on her. She gave the name of Capp as well as Carr. The CRB check was received back by the school on 19th July 2002. It was clear. During this term Maxine supported the two classes in year 5, one of which included Holly and Jessica. Towards the end of that term a permanent vacancy as a teaching assistant arose. Maxine applied for this post and was interviewed by Headteacher Geoff Fisher, Acting Deputy Head at the time Pamela Cole and Chair of Personnel Committee Susan Taylor. There were four other candidates for the post and one of these was considered a better candidate and subsequently appointed. Maxine's last day at the school was at the end of the July 2002 term. ENDS
