THOMAS CLARKSON AND SIR HARRY SMITH COMMUNITY COLLEGES HOST WORKSHOPS ON SCHOOL BUILDING PLANS

Special workshops are being held in Thomas Clarkson and Sir Harry Smith Community Colleges after half term to update schools and other interested parties on the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The purpose of the workshops - at Thomas Clarkson Community College on Tuesday 30 October at 4pm and at Sir Harry Smith Community College on Wednesday 31 October at 4.30pm - will be to inform a wide variety of stakeholders about the purpose and possible outcomes of the BSF investment programme and will include presentations and a question and answer session.

The Government has given the go-ahead for the first phase of Building Schools for the Future in Cambridgeshire. This will see significant improvements to six of Fenland’s schools - Cromwell Community College, Neale-Wade Community College, Thomas Clarkson Community College, Sir Harry Smith Community College, Meadowgate Special School and Fenland Junction Pupil Referral Unit.

The national BSF project will see all 3500 secondary schools in England rebuilt or substantially remodelled over a 15-year period at a total cost of around £45 billion.

The Fenland schools will be the first in Cambridgeshire to benefit, although schools across the rest of the county will be included in future ‘waves’ over the next 10 years. About £95 million is available for Fenland.

The Government attaches a high priority to stakeholder engagement so the workshops will be an important opportunity to hear the views of the wider school community and to ensure they understand fully the implications and benefits of this project.
